 7 Day Cape Town – Garden Route Getaway

A sight seeing trip which visits all the famous highlights the Cape has to offer and includes three Nature reserves and a National Park, utilising fixed accommodation for all 6 nights.  Many of the activities are included in the cost.

Day 1          Johannesburg - Beaufort West  

Depart Johannesburg 06h00 for Kimberley where we will visit the Big Hole (old diamond mine) and diamond mine museum.  Overnight in Beaufort West.  Lunch own expense.

Day 2          Beaufort West - Tsitsikamma National Park

A beautiful drive descending through the awe-inspiring Outeniqua mountains and Swartberg Nature Reserve, and then through George to stop at Knysna Waterfront for lunch.  View Bloukrans Bungi-Jump (World’s highest commercial Bungi) and then onwards to Tsitsikamma National Park.  We overnight in wooden forest huts at the Storms River mouth.  Bungi-Jump for own expense, with parental consent.

Day 3          Tsitsikamma National Park

A morning walk along the famous Otter Trail to the River Waterfall, and then return for a team prepared brunch.  The afternoon is free to relax on the beach or walk to Storm River suspension bridge.  Snorkeling is an optional activity that can be done from the beach at your own expense.

Day 4          Tsitsikamma - Cape Town

A scenic drive westward along garden route.  Stop in Hermanus for lunch and a good chance to see whales during their migration. After arriving in Cape Town we go to a breath-taking lookout to watch the sunset over the Atlantic.

Day 5          Cape Town  

Hike up Platteklip Gorge on Table Mountain for the best view of Cape Town.  Enjoy awesome views and a cable car ride down.  Then the Peninsula drive passing Hout Bay  and on to Cape Point where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet.  Time and weather permitting, we go to the beach for sundowners.

Day 6          Cape Town

Our last day in the Mother City and a visit to the V&A Waterfront where we also visit the Two Oceans Aquarium.  Afternoon is spent relaxing, and possibly a visit to Green Market Square.  Go out for dinner (own expense).

Day 7          Cape Town - Johannesburg  

Early departure for the long journey back.  Lunch own expense.

Euro 300 per person

NOTE : It is possible to do the Green Kalahari Safari and the Cape Town Getaway tours one after the other.  This will become a 15 day Kalahari Cape Town tour, with the price being Euro 290 + Euro 300.  The last day of the Kalahari Safari will not end in Johannesburg but will continue onwards to Cape Town from Upington.  Students from JHB could do a bus transfer to Upington if they do not want to do the Green Kalahari trip.
